The act of creating art and culture in this day and age involves a substantial amount of tedious bureaucracy and dealing with systems that are outdated and rusty. Additionally, current creative processes are much more collaborative than in the past, and instead of a personal studio for each artist, there is a need for shared spaces that serve groups of artists. Much of the current creative processes exist on one’s personal computer or online, so instead of having each artist sit and create alone in a café wearing headphones, we opened the Bureau as a space to meet and work. There’s black coffee, a fast internet connection, and a place to rest one’s mind and behind, with other artists struggling with the same issues.
